arch your belly, pin your shoulder blades together, push your shoulders and traps into the bench by driving your feet into the ground.. tuck your elbows in and touch the highest part of your arch or your upper belly and drive straight up.. not towards your head
in the beginning you would have to force it, but the more work you do with lighter weight the more second nature it will become… just remember your goin to have to work with lighter weight for a while and than work your way back up to get the hang of the movement, but its well worth it.. it feels much more natural and you feel stronger with what hes describing in this video
guys this guy is very wise many BBs and dumbasses **** their shoulders and tear pecs benching with a flat back all the stress goes to your shoulders i tried doing them this way and i’ve gotten stronger benching and no shoulder problems
have you seen powerlifters who have dieted down? have you seen ryan kennelly’s chest? what about dave gulledge’s? what about mike ruggiera’s? powerlifting bench press technique does build muscle… it just simulates a decline press more than a flat.
Actually a lean powerlifter will look more dense/solid then a typical bodybuilder. The softnes sis simply due to the fat. Heavy lifting will do that while reps generally wont. Go check out Kirk and youll see what I mean. He isn’t bodybuilder lean but he is a good example of how solid a powerlifting would look.
Exactly. This is completely geared torwards powerlifters. For a bodybuilder that would be garbage form because all he’s doing different is lifting up his back so his arms don’t have to come down as far, thus a shorter press means you can do more. That’s why 99% of powerlifters look soft and bodybuilders have striations and separation and symmetry. It’s all about form and what you’re trying to achieve, whether it be strength or a nice physique.
he’s talking about how far behind your torso the elbows travels. it reduces the stress on the shoulders since they move through a shorter range of motion.
