The spotter in the red was more concerned with hitting a side bi pose than assisting the lift.

Weightloss – A different approach
With my training clients the spotting varies with what their problem is. With newbies it tends to be a balance issue – they’re not going near failure at this point in their training anyway – so guiding (not lifting) on the forearms helps them learn to balance. With more experienced lifters working at a higher load level, I’ll spot under the upper arm NEAR the elbow. I don’t want to ***** up their balance, but do want to give them some added security as they go closer to failure.

actually if you hit the elbows it might collapse the dumbbells inwards, you want to spot alil under the wrist, but yeah the wrist is to tough so alil under it so your not nipping the dumbbell

I hated when morons grab my wrists when they spot me. I really hated it man. Some morons think it’s cool what they don’t realize doing that hurts both the moron who spot and the guying doing the lift. You should always be pushing the fucking elbow especially when the guy is up at this maximum weight. One time this moron almost killed when he pulled my wrists….idiots!!!

I prefer to be spotted at the wrists for dumbells cus most people move your arms in different directions when they spot at the elbows, but I agree that spotting at the elbows when done correctly is better.

if you spot on the wrists you ruin the person’s ability to balance the dumbells. I guarantee this guy could bench a few more reps on the bar at that weight. Elbows allow the person doing the set to keep training his balancing muscles. All you have to do is make sure is the dumbells dont fall backward and you tear your Rotator cuff.

Hi. What I love about your videos is your form. You lift heavy but the form is excellent. Rarely ever do you cheat. Excellent stuff. I take lifters like you as an example because it always looks like you are hitting the target area without cheating. Cheers and best of luck.

Actually the correct form to spot someone is the wrist genuis. What happens if he loose balance on the weights when you push them up on the elbows ?? its smarter using the wrist, and its in the certified trainers manual
